TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Seward Park Clay Studio would like everyone to explore clay. We raise funds to subsidize the cost of the classes to make them accessible to many, however for some students, that cost is still too much. Our tuition assistance program aims to give a larger subsidy to those who otherwise could not participate.

Tuition assistance is applied as a discount to class fees.  We also give a number of 100% scholarships for students who cannot afford to pay anything. Tuition assistance and scholarships do not include the cost of clay, generally, though we can waive fees for materials if paying for them is not possible.  You may receive tuition assistance twice in a calendar year, so that more students can access this benefit.

Those whose household income falls at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (shown below) are eligible for Tuition Assistance. If your household income is Equal to or less than the amount in the following chart, you are eligible for Tuition Assistance at Seward Park Clay Studio. (*a household includes the applicant and any other individuals who share financial responsibility for the household, and all dependents. Household income is the combined gross income generated each year by all the household members, as reported on IRS forms)

Seward Park Clay Studio gives up to several subsidies each quarter and reserves the right to offer a class where there are openings. We do try to give the class choice of the applicant, but sometimes that isn’t possible. We ask students to list 2nd and 3rd choices.

Applications for Tuition Assistance are accepted one month before the start of any given quarter, and awards are announced one week before classes begin, and are given on a first-come, first-served basis. If an applicant does not receive an award, we encourage them to apply for the following quarter.
