What draws me to the art of making pottery is its connection to and usage by a vast array of cultures throughout millennia. I am inspired by the simple beauty of form found in nature and in other discovered objects. I believe we all possess the ability to be creative. Working in clay allows me to explore my artistic side. After working on the wheel my forms are sometimes further altered by hand, such as adding a simple embellishment or something more elaborate. I focus on raku firing because this method’s unpredictability continues to delight and inspire me.
