Gretchen Siegrist

My favorite things are not necessarily made for human convenience and are often simply the things left behind by natural forces. My work attempts to humbly interpret the fleeting and impermanent artifacts of nature into fixed and sometimes functional forms. Over time, I have explored specific natural curiosities such as seed pods, birds, leaves, twigs and bark. I have also worked across the functional dimension, creating bowls, birdbaths, platters, fence post finials and cups by handbuilding with low-fire clays.
