I am fascinated by the confluence of plane and curve which I see as representing Man versus Nature. Looking at our world, nature comes in points and curves. Gravity pulls fluids towards the flat, but seen up close they are rarely without ripple. It is humankind who, through technology, imposes much of the flat onto nature’s roundness but nature will attempt to restore the balance. Walls and patios buckle under the push of roots. Our lives are a constant, and useless, attempt to keep nature under control. My forms try to express that contradiction.
