Description

There is a rich history of ceramic tile and mural making to explore and build upon.  And this makes a good ‘at home’ project, since tiles can be made and stored in a small space.  This is not a class to make hundreds of tiles for your bathroom remodel, but rather a class to explore some ways to do a smallish project that will introduce you to the history and potential of this great field.  We don’t have the facility to take on large projects here; we are thinking of a small project/s that you spend 10 weeks on. If you have questions about the scale of your project, please email the teacher at ChrisScamehorn@sewardparkart.org.  Chris will show you different ways of mapping out designs for murals and how to incorporate techniques like stamping, carving, glazing and finishing options to make a successful work of art. We’ll also explore the world of decals, which add so many possibilities.  This fun class will include multiple demonstrations and a variety of resources to see and consider.  Zoom classes will be augmented by recorded demonstrations and other resource materials. An initial bag of clay will be provided at pick up, as well as some slips.
