Description

Since antiquity, artists have been pressing, pouring, and dropping clay into molds to produce a huge variety of results.  Explore molds and mold making techniques for your handbuilt vessels or sculptures.  Start with a ready-made mold, then make your own drop mold, bisque mold, or plaster mold to achieve the results you want.  A molded form can be part of a bigger handbuilt piece, or sculptural collage.  You can also bridge 2D and 3D by adding low relief or painting monoprints in the mold.  Molds can help make each piece a singular artistic creation that surprises and delights.

This is a class for intermediate to advanced students.  We’re happy to answer any questions you might have before you sign up for this class.  We aren’t a ‘production’ studio, but are rather using molds as a tool to make unique pieces.
